New York City vs New York Red Bulls by PatrickBateman

In this New York derby New York City will host New York Red Bulls.

NYC are 3rd in Eastern Conference with 37 points. They have been in good form in recent period, even though they have only one win in the last four matches. Their schedule however, hasn`t been easy as they had to travel to Vancouver, host Chicago and face Toronto twice. They beat Chicago, but took only one point from Toronto, having lost last game 4:0. It was their highest defeat this season, but it probably shouldn`t have been taht high. Giovinco opened the scoring in 32nd minute and added another one in 67th. In 75th minute Altidore converted penalty and the game was definitely over at that point. Edwards made it 4:0, with Moralez failing to convert penalty for NYC deep in the stoppage time. NYC will be looking to bounce back with the victory against their city rivals, and they will be encouraged by the return of Herrera who is back from suspension. Shelton, Matarrita, Camargo, Sands, Wallace and Chanot are all out injured.

Red Bulls are 4th in Eastern Conference with 35 points but with a game in hand comparing to NYC. After a period of struggle, Marsch switched his formation to 3-5-2, and the results have been amazing. Six straight wins, with four of them coming in MLS alongside 15:3 goal difference. That formation gave Red Bulls much needed fluidity of movement, which proved their quality in offense after netting only 17 goals in previous 17 games. They are coming after one more convincing victory in which they beat Montreal at home 4:0. It was a one-way street from the very beginning, with Red Bulls being in complete control and dominating in every aspect of play. Those three points kept their chances of reaching top two spots very much realistic and it will serve as a motivational factor to continue with their good performances. Baah and Grella are out injured, while Collin is questionable.

New York derbys are always fiery affairs, despite NYC being a young team. These two met already twice this season, both times in June, with Red Bulls taking victory in U.S. Open Cup while City took league clash played at Red Bulls` stadium. Both wins were with clean sheet, which has been regular occurence in head-to-head meetings. However, this time it should be different. City has been very dangerous offensively, especially at home where they scored in every match this season. Not only that, but in each of the last seven home games they found a net at least twice. Also, they kept only one clean sheet at their ground and it was against DC United in the second fixture of the season. Red Bulls have scored 17 goals in the first 17 matches, and then 15 in the last four, which means they have found their offensive game and they are looking unstoppable. They managed to keep three clean sheets in the last four games, but City carries too much attacking power to be kept silent at home. With all that being said I can`t see past both teams scoring, and while both coaches are tactically talented, I see both sides easily scoring couple of goals.

Good luck!
