Slaven Belupo vs Cibalia by Dwofl
This season saw Slaven Belupo experience a solid start as they won two of their first three games, the only 2:0 loss coming from the away game against CL group stage contenders HNK Rijeka. On other fronts, Slaven got away with the 0:1 away victory against Inter Zaprešić and beat Lokomotiva Zagreb at home with the same result and currently occupy the 4th position in the table with a modest goal difference of 2:2. An expected boost to the team is newly-arrived striker Pero Pejić. The three-time Albanian League top scorer will aim to showcase his abilities in the HNL and hopefully help Slaven Belupo to further points. He is available to play against Cibalia today.
The visitors are a team that has barely evaded relegation last season and unfortunately the goal for this season should be just that - avoid relegation. Three games and three losses for Cibalia after visits to Inter Zaprešić and Dinamo Zagreb, and a (controversial) home loss to Hajduk Split. They are currently in last place with no points and a goal difference of 2:9 in just three games.
Back-to-back poor away performances for Cibalia have resulted in 7 goals conceded while scoring just once against Inter Zaprešić who have so far conceded in every game they played. The hosts have managed to keep clean sheets in both victories securing 1:0 victories in both games. Pejić will no doubt be a huge boost to their goal-scoring ability so I expect their goal difference to rise in the rest of the season.
Cibalia are clear underdogs for this game and I believe they will (unfortunately) under-perform again.
Slaven Belupo could rise to 3rd or even 2nd with a win against Cibalia since we have the derby game (Dinamo - Hajduk) scheduled for tomorrow.
That said, I am going with the home team to win to nil. Good luck.
