Special bets vs Special bets by Marci
One of biggest stars in WC in London will definitely be Wayde van Niekerk who will run on 200 and 400 metres and my bet is that he will win gold medal on both races. 25 years old runner from South Africa is taking the world by storm and has potential to be one of best sprinters in history with already being first to go under 10 seconds on 100m, 20 seconds on 200m and 44 seconds on 400 metres.
He is current Olympic and World champion and world record holder with 43.04 on 400 metres and his only opponent in final race will be world record. This season 3 guys went under 44 seconds and those are van Niekerk 43.62, Fred Kerley 43.70 and Isaac Makwala 43.84. Kerley has ran that fast on NCAA race and has absolutely no experience on such a big stage while Makwala has competed on both Olympics and World Championships and best place was 5th in Moscow 2015.
In 200 metres sprint it will be tougher task for young South African will have tougher competition with again Isaac Makwala who have a best time this season with 19.77, young Americans Christian Coleman 19.85 and Noah Lyles 19.90 and Jamaican Yohann Blake 19.97. Under 20 seconds we have another sprinter from South Africa Akani SImbine 19.95 and new sprinetr from Trinidad&Tobago Jereem Richards 19.97. Americans did best results on NCAA tournament same as Kerley on 400 metres and they all are inexpirienced, but very quick. Yohan Blake is world champion on 100m from 2011 and silver medalist for London Olympics back in 2012 in both 100 and 200m and second fastest ever in both disciplines, but since injury in 2013 he never managed to be as quick as he was 5 years ago.
On other hand Wayde van Niekerk who is second fastest this season on 200 metres with 19.84 (his PB) and he is getting only better with every single month and he will definitely improve his personal best on this championship and probably could even break 19.50 mark. He truly is sprinter to watch with currently injured De Grasse and this is his chance to use absence of Canadian sprinter to get both gold medals.
