Ajax vs Nice by Filipson

The 1st game should have had more goals, as we all saw one pretty open match, against the 2 teams that are primarely focused on attack. The result of that game, 1:1, tells us that everything is still open and unpredictable, so we should expect another exciting clash today. Ajax performed quite well in the1st match, and maybe even deserved more than a draw. However, they couldn't find their pace in the 1st half, where Nice showed more and eventually scored, so this young side seems to need more time to start playing. The hosts lost Davy Klaasen to Everton, and they are slowly getting used to playing without him. Ajax are generally very strong at Amsterdam Arena and I have no doubts they can score at least once against Nice. Last season, they were great here, winning over Schalke, Lyon, Celta Vigo, Panathinaikos, Copenhagen and Legia, which is a pretty remarkable achievement. They will go forward here, as that is how they play anyway, and if they created a fair amount of chances on the road they can do it at home, for sure.

Nice, on the other side, had a solid preparation period, where we saw plenty of goals. They kinda announced how they will play this season, so we can get used to them engaging in some high-scoring action quite often. The visitors were very good in the 1st half of the 1st game, but they somehow couldn't respond to Ajax's pressure in the 2nd one. They are aware of that, and they know what needs to be done here to get a positive result. Nice have more than enough attacking quality to inflict a solid damage to Ajax and at least score 1 goal. Cyprien is a long-term absentee, and probably Le Bihan, while Balotelli got injured in the 1st game and it is still uncertain whether he will perform. But all the other players are ready to give their best tonight, and I am sure they can show a good football.

Given the home performances of Ajax last season, I see them as the favorites, but the difference in quality is not that big between these two teams, and Nice have shown so far they can be very dangerous. I believe this is a safer option, and we should most likely see an open game with chances on both ends of the field. Good luck!
