Houston vs Portland by PatrickBateman
Houston are 3rd in Western Conference with 32 points. They picked themselves up after four games without a win and recorded seven points in the last three matches. At home, they are still undefeated in MLS, having won eight and tied two. Last time out they faced DC United and got expected victory. The game was done already after 17 minutes, since Houston have already scored three, and the rest was just hosts` attempting to get back into the game. Naturally, they didn`t succeed, with Boswell scoring only a consolation goal in 62nd minute. Houston are coming into the game strengthen by the return of Torres, while Malki and Alexander are out injured.
Portland are 4th in Western Conference with 30 points. Last time out they recorded their first victory in eight games, which was also their first road victory after eight games. In that game they visited Whitecaps in Vancouver and managed to beat favoured hosts. Ebobisse gave Portland lead in 14th minute, but Jacobson levelled the score just before the half-time. Portland were quick to establish another lead after the break, with Blanco scoring after assist from Ebobisse, and it stayed that way till the end. Portland managed to finally break their bad run, and Ebobisse proved that he can worthily replace Adi. Arokoyo, Ridgewell, Okugo and Myers are out injured, while Chara, Vytas and Barmby are questionable.
Portland finally got the victory in the last game, but during the whole winless period they weren`t looking that bad. Offensively they were spot on, scoring in each of their last ten games, however defensively, they were leaking on all sides. It was nothing strange as they have been missing number of defensive players for some time now. Houston haven`t been very convincing lately but their home form has been flawless and they are on a right track to finish the season without a single home defeat. Nevertheless, Portland will be encouraged by their last win and they have potential to ruin anyone`s day as their attackers don`t need much space to find a net. Houston conceded in the last five home games, as well as seven out of eight overall, while Portland failed to score only twice away from home while conceding in all but one. And when we take everything into cosnideration I think that another entertaining match is on the cards. Both teams have enough attacking power while their defences are far from solid, and therefore both teams to score and over 2.5 goals looks likely here.
