Orleans vs Nancy by Alcuni
Orleans was the team who finished on 18th spot and played play-off games against Paris FC. They had no emotion in those 2 games winning both 1-0 after some good evolutions. Of course, they didn’t had a good season but is matter that they saved in the end. A good evolution at home but the poorest team on the road with only 3 wins. In inter-season, there was the most spectacular team changing a lot in the squad. This after having all season interdictions to buy players due to bad financial exercise (they were deducted 4 points in previous season because of this) . So left the team important players as main GK Sissoko, best player Belkalem, Barreto , Youssouf and Armand plus other good ones: Sami, Ayari, Dupuis, Pagerie, Beziouen, Louvion. The acquisition campaign was smart enough plenty of good players came in: Gallon (Nimes, GK) Monfray (Laval), Benkaid (Strasbourg), Cissokho (Nimes), Cambon (LeHavre) plus some loaned ones: Perrin and d’Arpino (Lyon), Mutumbo (Angers), Will-Poha (Rennes). Ben Othman (Lok Gorna) and Furtado (Creteil) completed the list who seem not to be closed. With not a big budget, only 7 mill EURO, but with this good reinforcement I expect Orleans to finish above relegation spots. Well they were unbeaten in friendlies with 5W and 2D.
With an awful 2nd part of the season no wonder why Nancy relegate, occupying 2nd bottom spot in Ligue 1, only 2 points behind last salvation spot – Caen. With two wins in last 16 games, they practically erased a good evolution in first part of the season. Some changings in the squad leaving the team: Dia, Ait Bennasser, Dale, Puyo, Cabaco, Diarra and other less used players, being bought only few: Abergel (Ajaccio) Jourdren (Montpellier) and Eler (Insbruck). So they will have a lot of good players who played in Ligue 2 before promotion and coach Correa can field a competitive team since the start of the season. With a good budget of aprox 15 mil EURO they can be involved in the promotion battle. 2W1D1L for Nancy in preparation games.
Will be Orleans a pleasant surprise this season? Maybe yes / maybe not .I expect Nancy to have a slow start here and to drop points against a team who proved to be in a good shape in friendly. Perhaps the surprise of the round – back Orleans to win. gl
