Lokomotiv Plovdiv – Levski

Loko Plovdiv and Levski is always an entertaining encounter. Levski will want to put their Europa League disappointment aside and try concentrating on the domestic league.

Loko are traditionally uncomfortable opponent for Levski. They have a strong home support, maybe one of the best supporters fan base in Bulgaria. The team made some new additions to the side but is still relatively the same. Still it remains to be seen what will the future of their veteran target man Kamburov as there are disagreements between him and the club. Kamburov is 5 times top scorer of the domestic league and one of the most influential figures currently playing in the league. He was benched the first game and there is a strong possibility he may not feature for Loko again. In his absence Martinovic is likely to operate as centre forward his efforts supported by Dani Kiki, Dimo Bakalov and Vesko Marchev. The team has a good mixture of quality and experience and although not being able to compete for the title they will certainly pose threat to any opponent. They started well the season taking some hard 3 points against newcommers Etar. They were not particularly impressive but despite that they managed to get the 3 points.

Levski ambitions took a harsh hit after getting knocked out of the Europa League. The team lost to Hajduk with 3-1 aggregate score. In recent day they signed a very experienced in the English leagues player in the face of Gabriel Obertan but it was too late for him to be involved in the European competition. He still hasn’t got license and most likely he won’t feature again. The other significant addition to the squad is Jordi Gomez who is also a familiar face among English football fans. The team looks stronger this year but has yet to play together and build a strong unit. There is a rumour that another of the summer addition Junior Mapuku was excluded from the match squad following Hajduk disappointment. Head Coach Mitov is hugely under pressure from the fans and will want to win this game at all costs. We may see new additions Jordi, Rosu and Panayotov operating in central midfield. Prohazka will again feature out of his favourite position and we may see him on the right wing with Adeniji or Vutov leading the line if Mapuku is excluded. The defense may also see some changes after their failures against Hajduk with the only certain player to play being the captain and goalkeeper Mitrev.

Last 5 meeting between the sides all saw over 2.5 goals. Only a single win for Levski in the last 6 with 3 for Lokomotiv and the hosts are undefeated in 4 home games against their opponent. Still Levski are looking to bounce back otherwise we may see them parting ways with Mitov. My prediction for this game is to see open play once again with decent amount of chances for both sides. The pick here is BTTS: Yes for 1.7 at Marathonbet. Good Luck!
