Montreal are 8th in Eastern Conference with 24 points. They still have realistic chances of reaching play-offs since they have played only 18 games, comparing to others who played 19,20 or even 21. After five games without a victory, they improved their form and won two out of the last three. Both of those games came at home, where they have been pretty solid, losing only twice while winning majority of the remaining games. On Thursday they beat Philadelphia at home 2:1, in a game which they controlled and never looked like losing. First half finished 1:1, with visitors cancelling out Montreal`s lead. In the second half, Montreal got another lead through Dzemaili, who has been their best player since arriving, and secured vital three points. Bernier, Crepeau and Jackson-Hamel are still unavailable despite Canada being knocked out of the Gold Cup, while Piatti, Oyongo and Cabrera are injured.
Dallas are 2nd in Western Conference with 31 points. They have been looking very solid this season, and their defence which is second-best in MLS, has been their foundation. However, majority of their points came at home, while on the road they recorded only two wins this season. Last time out they lost to Kansas City in the quarterfinal of U.S. Open Cup after the overtime. Sporting entered the game without number of key players, and were left with 10 men after only 15 minutes. However, Dallas couldn`t find a net, and Sporting managed to reach overtime. Urruti`s second yellow in 101st minute was a trigger for the hosts, and they scored three goals till the end, knocking out Dallas who will feel like they could`ve won the game. Dallas will miss Hedges, Acosta, Gonzalez and Figueroa - all on intenational duty.
Dallas have been much more solid than Montreal this season, but they just can`t find continuity on the road. Montreal have been pretty good at home, and their good scoring form which saw them finding a net in every home game, has been their main strength. Dallas have always stayed close on their trips, but they rarely looked like they can take all three points. Montreal played only three days ago, while Dallas had a ten-day rest, but that shouldn`t make too big of a difference, as both teams had enough time to rest during the 14-day break. Dallas will also miss couple of key players, which surely won`t help them in their quest for three points. As much as this game is open, and Dallas being more solid team, I can`t see visitors having the main word here. Montreal will be motivated to reach play-off zone, and they will be encouraged by their good home form, and they are very dangerous team even when theey are not playing good. Draw would be a realistic outcome, but I can hardly see Montreal losing this one, and therefore I will back them with 0 asian handicap.
