Orlando City vs Atlanta United by PatrickBateman
In this MLS match Orlando City will host Atlanta United.
Orlando are 6th in Eastern Conference with 29 points. Majority of their points came earlier in the season, while in recent times they have struggled heavily. They recorded only two wins in the last fourteen competitive matches, and those victories came against DC United and Real Salt Lake who are amongst worst teams in the league. After beating Real away from home, they hosted Toronto. Altidore secured visitors lead at the half-time, and Giovinco increased it right after the break. Rivas pulled one back in 63rd, but only two minutes later Giovinco sealed the victory for Toronto with his second goal of the game. Orlando weren`t that bad in that game, but difference in quality was clearly visible, and they couldn`t stop one of league`s best attacking pairs. Orlando will be without Larin who was called up by Canada to face Jamaica, as well as Ramos who is injured. Also, Rivas is questionable.
Atlanta are 4th in Eastern Conference with 30 points. They have been performing surprisingly good considering this is their inaugural season. They have five wins in the last seven competitive matches, and they look like serious contenders for play-off places. They are coming into this game on the back of two straight wins, even though their last game was two weeks ago. Last time out they beat San Jose at home 4:2. San Jose went on a break with a lead thanks to Thompson`s goal in 2nd minute, but when they were left with ten men in 32nd, it was clear they will hardly keep that lead. And Atlanta took advantage of it, scoring four goals in the second half, allowing visitors only one more. Away from home they have been much less solid, but often competitive and dangerous. Williams is on international duty, while Peterson, Jones and Kann are injured.
Atlanta have been looking better this season, mostly thanks to their good offensive performances. However, their defence has been far from solid, and they have struggled to earn points on the road. Orlando have been below expectations lately, and their home form hasn`t been any better, with only one win in the last seven outings. Therefore, this game should be anyone`s to take. Orlando have scored in all but two home games this season, while Atlanta failed to score also twice on the road. Atlanta have been rarely keeping clean sheets this season, and it is hard to see them doing that here despite Orlando missing their best striker. Also, Atlanta`s deadly attack which is the best in MLS, should be too much to handle for Orlando, and if hosts want to win here they will need to outscore their opponents. All in all, I see a high scoring game here, as both teams carry more quality in offense. And being close to each other in playoff zone, both will be searching for three points here. Therefore, both teams to score and over 2.5 goals should be on the cards here.
