Guarani vs Ceara CE by Sureseye
Surprise league leaders Guarani welcome 6th place Ceara and if recent trends should be considered, we can expect a calculated match from both coaches with reliance on defence to grind out results.
Guarani made a nice defensive structure away to Atletico MG and could be contended with the eventual 0-0 scoreline. They have either been shut out from scoring completely or shut opponents out completely in last 4 matches, all of which were under 2.5 goals. They are not the very much scoring type but they have a good defence. While 18th placed Figueirense have even scored more goals than them, only twice have opponents scored against them at home out of 7 home matches and one of the goals was a penalty. Whenever Guarani takes the lead, if early, they sit down on counter and will punish opponents with the second goal. That explains why they have recorded three 2-0 at home and I fancy that will be the highest number of goals scored today but it could be lesser if they do not score early. Forward Eliandro (11/3) will be missing this one.
Ceara won Juventude 2-0 last round and by the 7th minute the scoreline was completed. What was left was a defensively mindful host against pressing guest and it didn't matter if Juventude was league's second highest scoring side - they still couldn't put a goal past Ceara's wall for 85 minutes! Ceara are also one defensive unit who have also either been shut out from scoring completely or shut opponents out completely in last 4 matches, all of which were under 2.5 goals. They have 3-1-3 8:6 away from home. Forward Roberto (13/3) and midfielder Richardson (12/0) will be missing this one.
I expect a careful and calculated approach from both sides and whoever (if any) scores between these teams have demonstrated they can keep opponents at bay especially with attack lines that have been sub-par, not reflecting the standings!
