Australia vs Germany by GlacialSpirit
Good thing that we have the Confederations Cup to spice things up a bit in a gameless Monday. Two champions take on each other as Australia plays Germany. The Socceroos are the Champions of Asia while well Germany are the World Cup holders.
ÂGermany will not feature its strongest squad here. Despite that the team has plenty of quality to choose from. The most recognizable name in the squad will probably be Julian Draxler as the 23 year old PSG man will be given the opportunity to even wear the captain armband. He will be the main focus point for the German squad and backing him to score looks promising for odds of around 2.20. The other main threats to the Australian goalkeeper will be RB Leipzig man Timo Werner and experienced striker from Hoffenheim. Other recognizable names in the squad include Premier League boys Emre Can from Liverpool and Arsenals defender Shkodran Mustafi while Barcelonas goalkeeper ter Stegen is expected to start between the posts. The team as I mentioned has plenty of quality despite missing its start players and Germany are a formidable opponent no matter the squad.
ÂAustralia come into the game after receiving a wakeup call from Brazil. The team was unbeaten in 8 but got a serious beating against Brazil for the final result of 4-0. Huge blow to the team will be the absence of experienced midfielder Mile Jedinak. The Aston Villa man is out for the entire tournament which is a huge blow to Australia overall chances. Massimo Luongo along with Manchester City man Aaron Mooy who played for Huddersfield last year will be looking to hold Germany at bay in the midfield while veteran Striker Tim Cahil will be the main outlet up front trying to cause ter Stegen trouble. Matthew Ryan is expected to start between the sticks while Degenek, Sainsbury and McGowan will try to hold firm against Germanys attacking force.
ÂGermany usually take every game seriously despite playing with experimental team. They are favourites here but odds of around 1.3-1.4 for a Germany win dont really have value. Therefore Im opting for the goal market picking over 2.5 goals for 1.62 at Pinnacle. Not the best odds either but at least the bet looks relatively safe. Good Luck!
