Ingolstadt vs Werder by PatrickBateman
Ingolstadt are 17th with 28 points. They are four points from the safe zone, but they still have chance of staying up, especially since they put up some good results lately. They managed to connect three wins before losing to Wolfsburg last time out. They lost that game pretty easily, which came as a little bit of surprise considering their prior performances. First half was pretty much even, but the hosts managed to score just before the break, after Suttner put the ball in his own net. Second half was all Wolfsburg, and when Malli scored in 68th minute, there was no way back for Ingolstadt. Gomez added third with ten minutes to go, setting up a final result. Hartmann is out due to injury, while Bregerie, Suttner and Matip are suspended.
Werder are 8th with 39 points. After a long period of them being in the drop zone, their improved form has seen them fighting for Europa League. They are currently on astonishing run of nine league games without a loss, beating the likes of Leipzig and Schalke in process. In their latest outing they beat HSV 2:1 at home. Visitors took an early lead, with Gregoritsch scoring in 6th minute. However, after a period of domination, Werder managed to equalize in 41st minute via Kruse. Second half wasn`t the most interesting, but the hosts managed to score another one in 75th minute, which proved to be crucial in their search for three points. That win saw Werder virtually securing their survival while staying in contention for the Europe with realistic chances. Werder will miss injured Caldirola, Delaney, Fritz and Hajrovic, as well as suspended Junuzovic.
Ingolstadt are coming into this game as slight favourites, considering they are playing at home and the fact that Werder are missing some key players. However, Werder have been in great form recently, both at home and on the road. They are playing open attacking football, which brings them a lot of goals, but rarely a clean sheet, especially away from home. Ingolstadt will be desperate for three points here, especially knowing there are only five games to go, and they are yet to face Leipzig, Leverkusen, Freiburg and Schalke. Since Werder will almost certainly score against Ingolstadt`s defence which conceded at least once in the last nine successive games, Ingolstadt will have to score at least two here if they want to win. Werder will also do everything what`s in their power to reach Europe, and also will be looking for three points here. Both teams have been involved in high scoring games lately, and coming up against each other in need for a victory, I see this game bringing us similar scenario. I predict a high-scoring game with goals coming from both sides.
