Crystal Palace vs Arsenal by PatrickBateman
Crystal Palace are 16th with 31 points. They are currently three points above drop zone and it seems that Big Sam could survive again. Recently they put up a good streak of four victories, beating Middlesbrough, WBA, Watford and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. That run came to an end on Wednesday when they lost to Southampton. It was an open game since the very beginning, with Palace taking lead in 31st minute via Benteke. Redmond levelled things up just before the half-time, and deservedly so. In the second half we were watching Southampton dominating, but Palace were holding on all until the very end when the hosts got their win with a quick doublefire. Yoshida scored in 84th, with Ward-Prowse confirming a victory minute later. Crystal Palace have a lot of trouble with injuries, and they will miss van Aanholt, Tomkins, Dann, Souare and Wickham, while Cabaye, McArthur, Campbell and Remy are also unlikely to play.
Arsenal are 6th with 54 points. They are currently seven points behind 4th placed City, but they have two games less. Therefore, they still have a chance to qualify for Champions League. They have been through tough period lately, which saw them winning only four out of the last eleven competitive matches. After drawing 2:2 with City at home, they beat West Ham 3:0 in the last game. It was a pretty straightforward game form the beginning, even though the teams went on a break at 0:0. In the second half Arsenal stepped up their game even more, and got three points with Ozil, Walcott and Giroud getting on the scoresheet. Arsenal have been bad on the road lately, with their last league win going all the way back in January, but they need to find a way to win here if they want to keep their hopes of Champions League alive. They will be without injured Cech and Ospina, which means we`ll see Martinez on goal again. Also, Koscielny, Cazorla and Perez are still out.
This is an important game for both teams, but it`s going to be the case for the rest of the season. Palace have been in good form lately, but the game against Southampton showed that they are still very much vulnerable. Arsenal are coming from a routine victory, which is what they needed the most, but their woes on the road will surely remain in the back of their heads. However, they have found a net in every away game since Week 2, and that is something which could give them a chance here against Palace who are missing some key defenders. Palace have scored in each of their last five games, and they should find a net against defensively vulnerable visitors who have been conceding fair amount of goals lately. With hosts missing some important players in defense, there is no point for them to play defensively here, even though they would most probably be satisfied with a draw. Even if they do, Arsenal will be attacking from the first minute, since they need three points here, and Palace will be forced to open up. Arsenal remain closer to victory in my eyes, but it will hardly be 1:0, and therefore I can`t see this game being anything but an open one. Both teams have enough attacking power to make this game an entertaining one, and therefore both teams to score with over 2.5 goals seems likely here.
