Kongsvinger vs Start by 20legend

Kongsvinger has a new coach and quite a young team this season, but they still impressed me a lot in their first game against Bodo/Glimt (3-2). Their opponent was relegated from Eliteserien last season and is one of the most difficult away games all season. The first half gave many chances both ways, but Bodo/Glimt did enjoy most of the ball possession. Still, Kongsvinger grabbed the 0-1 lead through their captain Adem Güven after 33 minutes which was the score at halftime.

Bodo/Glimt started out with full throttle in the second half and used the first 20 minutes to show why they played one division up last season. The captain Trond Olsen stepped forward just three minutes into the half to level the score, while newcomer Kristian Fardal Opseth delivered two more goals in the 60th and 65th minute. That obviously gave Bodo/Glimt the confidence they needed for the remaining 25 minutes, but Kongsvinger was still offensive and searched for a chance to respond. However, the response did not come before the 91st minute which made the final score 3-2 in an entertaining match from both teams. The strikers Maikel Nieves (0/0) and Mats Cato Moldskred (0/0) is reported to be out together with midfielder Orjan Royrane (0/0) and defender Fredrik Palerud (0/0).

Start was the other team to go down from Eliteserien last season as they had a dreadful campaign. Their preseason has looked quite different with a lot of wins and good play which naturally makes them one of the favorites to get back up this season. However, their first game should be considered to be a disappointment against Fredrikstad (2-2). They grabbed the lead after 33 minutes, but gave it away only three minutes later with Fredrikstad equalizing. The second half did not give the biggest entertainment either as Start did not manage to put another goal behind Fredrikstad’s goalkeeper. It was instead the guests that took the lead after 84 minutes and it looked to be a loss for Start. It was therefore a huge relieve for them when they did manage to score in stoppage time to save a point.

The club has quite a few injuries at the moment with striker Lasse Sigurdsen (1/0), striker Lars-Jorgen Salvesen (1/0), midfielder Anders Hollingen (0/0) and defender Rolf Daniel Vikstol (0/0) all missing, while their new signing Abubakar Ibrahim is still not cleared to play for his new club. The injuries on their two strikers have left them out with only one option up front in Dennis Antwi (1/0). That has led to the return of striker Uduak Idemokon (0/0) who was released from his contract just a week ago.

I must say that Kongsvinger impressed a lot in their first game against Bodo/Glimt. I am not expecting them to manage a place among the top six teams this season, but I might be wrong if the same effort is being put down in the upcoming games. Start has to be disappointed with their last game and probably has the strongest squad on paper. They should therefore be able to handle their injuries and still be able to get something out of this game. Both teams to score is a clear option here.
