Eintracht Frankfurt vs Werder by Beat-The-Odds

Though Niko Kovac’s Eintracht Frankfurt have undergone a complete overhaul since barely surviving the relegation play-offs last season, the Eagles’ performances have gone a bit downhill in recent weeks.

Werder Bremen found themselves on the cusp of the relegation zone after starting the new year with four consecutive defeats but the North Germans have more than made amends as the year has gone on. Werder’s dominant 3-0 win at home to Schalke during the week sees them now unbeaten in seven in the Bundesliga (W6 D1) and their 35 point total is more than enough to see them comfortably above automatic relegation.

Werder Bremen top the form table – even ahead of league leaders Bayern Munich – over the past seven matches, taking 17 points more than hosts Frankfurt over the same period. Set pieces have been a prominent feature of Bremen’s recent recovery, scoring one in each of their past seven matches, and a newfound defensive stability has also led them to four clean sheets over the same number.
