Haugesund vs Valerenga by 20legend
That made the rest of the game to be all about Stromsgodset and the question became not if they would score, but when. It was the other striker Marcus Pedersen who made it 2-1 after 76 minutes with Tagbajumi quickly kill all the possible excitement with 3-1 five minutes later. It has to be said that Pedersen should clearly been shown off as well, as he made a horrible tackle on the knee of defender Kristoffer Haraldseid. The result was Haraldseid will be missing several games in the near future, while Pedersen got away with just a yellow card. Defender Kristoffer Haraldseid (1/0) and striker Liban Abdi (1/0) are both missing out tonight. That is also the case for midfielder Anthony Izuchukwu and defender Bruno Leite.
Valerenga kept up to the big expectations in terms of getting the needed result against Viking (1-0), but it was far from any perfect game. The first half actually belonged to Viking who managed to produce two chances one-on-one with the keeper in addition to be the most precise team in the buildup of their attacks. Valerenga looked a bit nervous and they clearly enjoyed going to halftime with 0-0 in order to get some words from coach Ronny Deila in the break. It had an immediate effect to the team as they started the second half completely different. 53 minutes had gone when Bard Finne hit the net after connecting with a perfect chip from left-back Ivan Näsberg. It was Finne’s debut and he was the player of the game as he never stood still and challenged his opponents almost non-stop.
The goal was a salvation to the whole club and you could see how it affected their way of playing for the rest of the game. Viking disappeared as a team from the 53rd to the 80th minute, but Valerenga did not manage to get the important second goal. Viking then got their energy from the first half back in the last ten minutes. Once again they had the initiative and came forward with three big opportunities to score. However, bad finishing was the main problem in order to get something from this difficult away game. It therefore became a fair win for Valerenga as they simply managed to be cooler in front of goal compared to their opponent.
Midfielder Christian Grindheim, striker Henrik Kjeldsrud Johansen and winger Magnus Retsius Grodem are back in the squad after missing out against Viking. Midfielder Magnus Lekven, midfielder Ernest Agyiri and winger Daniel Fredheim Holm are all missing out. Striker Mohamed Abdelloaoue (1/0) was doubtful after receiving a minor knock against Viking, but he is included in the squad that travels to Haugesund.
It will definitely not be any walkover for Valerenga tonight as Haugesund has 3-3-1 at home against Valerenga since returning to Eliteserien back in 2010. It has not been too much goals in these games when Haugesund has been the host though, but it has often involved both teams scoring with four of seven games heading into that category at Haugesund Stadion. Valerenga got their good start in game one, but Haugesund is still interested in keeping their statistics against them in their first home game this season. With the games coming quickly in the near future, I certainly think that both teams will get their chances tonight. The odds are also good which gives the pick great value as well in my opinion.
