Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh by Rahul
Mustafizur Rahman has proven to be one of the best bowlers for Bangladesh over the last few years that he has played the game. While he is only 21 years of age and still learning his trade, he boasts a fantastic record while playing ODI cricket in his short career of 11 matches.
The Fiz, as he is affectionately known as, has taken 30 wickets in just 11 ODI games. He generally tends to pick up a wicket early on in the match with a moving ball and then comes back later in the innings at the death and takes wickets with his slower deliveries, often leading to catches in the outfield. He has gone wicket-ess in only 2 games in his career so far, and his since learned how to ply his trade in a better way.
In the 1st game he kept his bowling tight bowling after the 10th over, and then came back in the 2nd spell around the 35th over and took his customary 2 wickets bowling to the tail and took another one after that cleaning up the tail; with all his wickets coming through catches in the field through his typical slower balls. In the 2nd game, he was a bit expensive bowling in his first spell; but came back to take a wicket in his 2nd spell. The wicket was left to be more lively by Sri Lanka after the loss in the first game, to have the Bangladesh spinners and Mustafizur to have less of an impact. The wicket in Colombo is a slower one, which should give some turn and would be perfect for the fizz and his slower balls to take wickets, as the ball should hold up in the pitch.
On the slowish track of Sri Lanka, he knows that with his slower balls he can let the ball stop on the batsman and try and get them out LBW or caught behind through the death; With an economy rate under 4.40 runs per over, its no surprise his strike rate is getting a wicket almost every 3 overs.
Mustafizur Rahman to get over 39.5 performance points for me, which in essence is 2 wickets.
