Peru vs Uruguay by PatrickBateman
Peru is 8th with 15 points. They still have a chance in theory to qualify, but in reality is going to be really hard for them. They have been recording mixed results lately, with a home draw against Argentina standing out as highlight. On Friday they played 2:2 with Venezuela on the road. It was an even match in which both teams wanted to win, even though Venezuela is without chance of qualifying. And the hosts were the ones to get the lead, when Villanueva scored in 24th minute. Otero added another one just before the half time to leave on the break with 2:0. After the break Peru stepped up their game, knowing that they have to get something out of this match. And Carillo scored just one minute into the second half. Peru continued to dominate, and got an equalizer in 64th via Guerrero. That was the final score, with which Peru won`t be very happy.
Uruguay is 2nd with 23 points. They are coming here after a tough home defeat to Brazil, preceeded by another defeat to Chile. They got an early lead, with Cavani converting a penalty in 9th minute. However, their lead didn`t last long, as Paulinho levelled things up with a fantastic shout just nine minutes later. In the second half, we were watching a pretty equal game, but it was Brazil who scored three more, while Uruguay couldn`t get nothing more. Paulinho scored another one in 51st minute, while Neymar secured the win in 74th. Paulinho completed his hat-trick in stoppage time, to make it final 4:1. Suarez will be available for this game, since he has returned from suspension.
Uruguay is a more quality team, but Peru has enough ability to ruin anyone`s day. Especially at home, where they were beaten only by Chile and Brazil. On the other hand, Uruguay has only one win away from home, and that being against Bolivia. Therefore it is hard to separate these two in this game. Since Uruguay will go for a win, spearheaded by lethal duo Cavani-Suarez, we should see an interesting and open game. Therefore, Uruguay should not have a hard time scoring on Peru, who conceded 22 goals. Also, with Uruguay keeping only one clean sheet away from home, and conceding seven goals over the course of the last two games, I see Peru also getting on the scoresheet. Both teams to score looks destined here and I will go with that.
