Montenegro vs Poland by PatrickBateman
Montenegro is 2nd in Group E with 7 points. They started this cycle in good fashion, drawing 1:1 in Romania, beating Kazakhstan 5:0 at home and Denmark 1:0 on the road. However, in their last game, they lost in Armenia 3:2, even though they were 2:0 up at half-time. They started the game dominantly, and it paid off for them when Kojasevic and Jovetic scored in 36th and 38th minure respectively. It looked already then that there is no way Armenia can get back in the game, and that all that is left for Montenegro is to bring things calmly to an end. But Armenia stepped up their game, and in 50th minute they pulled one up via Grigoryan. That goal gave them courage, and it was now them who were in control of the game. When Haroyan levelled things in 74th minute, it looked like anything is possible. Armenia didn`t make peace with draw, and they managed to get all three points when Ghazaryan scored in stoppage time. Montenegro looked unrecognisable in the second half, and they have pulled off some "achievement" by losing a game which was practically already won. They have a major issue for this match, as it is unclear is Jovetic going to be fit for the game, since he missed last three practices.
Poland are leading their group with 10 points. They are yet to lose, with draw against Kazakhstan in the first game standing out as their only setback. However, against Armenia at home they weren`t much more convincing, pulling off a 2:1 win only in 95th minute when Lewandowski came to rescue. In the last game they were a little bit more convincing, beating Romania 3:0 away from home. Grosicki gave Poland the lead in 11th minute, but Romania was in the game all until 83rd minute, when Lewandowski doubled the score. After that goal Romanians have surrendered, and Lewandowski scored another goal from the penalty in 91st minute, to make it final 3:0. Their last game was a friendly match against Slovenia which finished 1:1.
Poland are coming into this game as favourites, but it will not be easy for them. They are a more balanced team, with more quality players, but Montenegro`s team spirit is something that should not be taken lightly. They showed that spirit when they beat Denmark 1:0, leaving their heart on the field to defend their lead. Both Montenegro and Poland have found a net in every game, with hosts scoring nine and visitors ten. Also, Poland conceded five goals, keeping only one clean sheet, while Montenegro conceded four. Poland will come to win here, and since they scored at least two goals in every game during this qualification cycle, they should find a net here. Montenegro`s biggest strength lies in offense, and if Jovetic will be playing, shaky Poland`s defense should have a lot of problems. But even if doesn`t play, hosts will be aware they have to score if they want to take anything from the game. Therefore I see a great value in backing both teams to score at the odds of 2.10.
