Sweden is 3rd in Group A with 7 points, same as Netherlands and three less than leaders France. After drawing 1:1 with Netherlands, and beating Luxembourg and Bulgaria, in the last game they were beaten by France 2:1. France was dominating the game, but it was Sweden who got the lead, when Forsberg found a net from free kick in 55th minute. However, France was quickly to respond, with Pogba equalizing only three minutes later. Hosts didn`t stop there, and Payet added another one in 65th minute, to completely turn the game around. Sweden didn`t have an answer, and left Paris with their first defeat. Last week Guidetti got injured, so he will be missing, as will Olsson and Wendt.
Belarus is 5th with 2 points, and still without a win. They started this cycle by surprisingly holding France to a 0:0. After that they got heavily beaten in Netherlands 4:1. Then came their biggest chance for a win, when they hosted Luxembourg. However, they didn`t manage to beat 10-men visitors, even though they got a lead in 80th minute. Last time out, they were defeated in Bulgaria, in a game which was pretty much equal, with Belarus controlling possession but Bulgaria having more chances. Popov brought an early lead to hosts, and that turned out to be a final result, since Belarus didn`t have an answer. The most noticeable missing for Belarus will be that of Alexander Hleb, who got sent off in dying minutes of the last game.
Sweden is coming here as clear favourites, and deservedly so. They have been solid this term, especially at home, with 3:0 win against Bulgaria standing out as highlight. Something similar should be expected here also, since they have a more quality team, even without Ibrahimovic. With France and Netherlands being favourites for the top two places, Sweden simply needs to be winning these kind of matches if they want to stay in contention. Therefore I can`t see past their victory here. And since they beat Bulgaria by three goals, there is no reason why they wouldn`t beat Belarus by two. The odds are very good and worth a shot.
