Republic of Ireland enjoyed a good start to those qualifications as they are on top of group D with 10 points. However, for today hosts have significant problems with the squad because Robbie Brady, Daryl Murphy, Harry Arter, Stephen Quinn, Wes Hoolahan, Ciaran Clark, Shane Duffy, Marc Wilson, Paul McShane are all unavailable. James McCarthy is doubtful. Wales are unbeaten in qualifications, but their last 3 games ended in draws so they need to start winning if they want to qualify to World Cup. Simon Church, Tom Lawrence, Jonathan Williams and Andrew Crofts are unavailable for Wales, but these are not significant absences. Given all the circumstances, in my opinion Wales are favourites of this game.
