Argentina has been performing below expectations, and have found themselves on 5th place. After a poor run of four qualification games without a win (2 draws and 2 losses), they have finally won in the last game. And it was some win, since they beat Colombia 3:0. They were dominant in that game, limiting Colombia to zero shots on goal. Argentina got an early lead when Messi scored in 10th minute. In 23rd minute Pratto made it 2:0, and already then it looked like there is no way offor visitors coming back. Colombia were trying to score, but it was the hosts who found a net once again - via Di Maria in 84th minute. Argentina will be encouraged by that result, and without any noticeable missings, they will come here hopeful of getting a positive result.
Chile is 4th, only a point in front of Argentina. Their away performances have not been anywhere near their home ones, which is the main reason they are not positioned higher. In their last qualification games, they beat Uruguay at home 3:1. Visitors were the one to take the lead - through Cavani in 17th minute, but Vargas made it 1:1 in the stoppage time of first half. In the second half, we were watching a close game, but it was Chile now who took the lead when Sanchez scored in 60th minute. He added another one in 76th and the game was more or less over. Uruguay had a chance to get back in the game, but Suarez missed a penalty, and the game finished 3:1. Chile will be missing suspended Vidal, but that will not be their only concern. Sanchez picked up an injury last week, and it is unclear if he is going to be fit. Last update says that he will probably play, as he was fully involved in practice, but the question remains will the injury affect him.
This is a must win situation for Argentina, as they can`t afford to lose here and probably slide down the table. Chile hasn`t been impressive away from home, and that is why Argentina are clear favourites. Besides that, Chile will be without one of their best players, while it is unclear how fit their other star player will be. Last time these two met in the final of Copa America, Chile won on penalties after 0:0 in regular time. But that was completey different situation, since it was a final and it was played in the USA. This time, I think that hosts will come on top, as they just have to. They haven`t been at their best this term, but they are coming after a good performance against Colombia which will surely stay in their minds as a motivational factor. Chile should have a hard time here, and if Argentina will be at their best, I see them winning convincingly. Therefore I will take Argentina with a -1.25 AH, as I think they can win with at least two goals.
