Rublev vs Mayer by Patyi
Two years ago when Rublev started to play on ATP Tour I was very impressed how well he is playing, I thought what an attacking game, the new Safin has arrived. But now I'm so sad when I think about him, bad losses everywhere, errors after erros and very inconsistent play. He can't deal with pressure, he has good wins on challenger tour especially on faster surfaces but his results are disappointing on ATP Tour. In 2017 he lost badly against Millot, Marchenko, Whittington and Van de Zandschulp, these results are terrible.
Florian Mayer is a 33 years old veteran with very tricky game, he has good attacking and defensive tennis too and he can mix his game well, never know what will be the next shot. He just has played 4 matches this year and lost all but he lost in tight battle against Zeballos, Lorenzi and Haase and of course easily against Nadal in Melbourne but that match wasn't a beatdown just one break in all sets. I saw his match against Haase and that was one of the best match in Rotterdam this year, Flo fought like a lion but Haase played extremely good tennis. After that match and Mayer's good record in Miami (round of 16 three times) I think he will want this win badly.
Of course always be hard with the veteran players, it's hard to say when they will be motivated when they will just play for fun but this odds is not correct. The courts are slow, Rublev is an inconsistent error machine and he is the big favourite, while Mayer is a very tricky player who can play very good tennis. Value is in Mayer's odds.
