Preston vs Arsenal
The hosts are sitting in 11th place in the Championship 6 points away from the play-off zone. Their form has its ups and downs with 3 wins 4 draws and 2 losses in their last 9 games. Simon Grayson will be missing a few players for today’s game. Midfielder Josh Welsh along with Calum Woods are not available due to injury and striker Beckford serves a ban and will also miss the game out. Preston will probably field their usual 4-4-2 formation with Doyle and Simon Makienok operating up front. Despite playing with 2 up front I doubt Preston will go on offensive. They’ll probably sit deeper at the back letting Arsenal control the flow of the game, not giving them space in the final third and limiting their chances.
Arsenal come into this game after very entertaining 3-3 draw against Bournemouth. They managed to grab a late equalizer after getting 3-0 down. Despite the turnaround this game proved to be somewhat dividing for the Arsenal dressing room with Alexis shouting and arguing with his teammates. Giroud celebration after his goal was seen by the fans as unnecessary waste of time. Still The Gunners need to come back strong today to gain some momentum for their PL games ahead. Wenger has a lot of injury problems as always and will probably shift the team around. Cech, Ozil, Alexis, Giroud may all be rested. Koscielny and Bellerin had some problems last game and are also unlikely to feature. Coquelin also is sidelined with injury from last game along with long term injuries of Casorla, Akpom and Debuchy. Elneny is at AFCON which leaves Arsenal with very few option in the middle. Xhaka looked tired last game and I believe Niles may partner Ramsey in the middle. Iwobi and Ox are a must starters up front this game along with Holding in the defensive line.
Arsenal tend to have some trouble in games like this. Preston on the other side will be likely to throw everything they got against their high profile opponents. Still Arsenal needs to bounce back after the terrible defensive performance last game. Despite the changes in the squad Arsenal will be focused on winning this one. They just can’t get another disappointment here. I expect Arsenal to dominate the game and break through Preston’s defense at some point and with their error prone defense they also may let some slip in. My pick here is for Arsenal win and Over 2.5 goals in the game.Good luck to you all!
