Karlovic vs Khachanov by Iniestaone
A very interesting match here between Karlovic and Khachanov. The Russian's last match in 2016 was a 1-2 loss to Karlovic in Vienna. He is the underdog at around same pricing this time as he was then, and today I think he can take the win. Karlovic is 38 years old in February and I think he is one of the players who will have his last season this year. He was abysmal in Davis Cup where he managed to take a set from Del Potro but lost to him 1-3 and he even lost to Delbonis in three sets. He is ranked 20th at the moment but expect that to change for the worse during the year.
Khachanov is headed in the opposite direction, he took his first ATP title last year and the way he plays tennis makes me sure he will be a top 10 player one day. He trust his offensive shots a lot and hits plenty of winners, he plays aggressive tennis and every time the ball is in play he will have the advantage.
Karlovic did defeat Marchenko in two sets in his first round in Doha, but he needed two tiebreaks to do so and he showed a lot vulnerabilty as he was broken 3 times in the first tiebreak. Marchenko was playing very good tennis up until each tiebreak where he fell apart which really isn't unusual for him. Khachanov is different, he is stronger mentally and he showed in Vienna that he can keep up with Ivo.
