Sunderland vs Liverpool by Rahul

Sunderland probably were the worst team of 2016 but still managed to survive the Premier League drops and are now just 2 points behind 17th placed Crystal Palace heading into this game. The big reason for Sunderland's success has been their attacking strength as the likes of Defoe, Anichebe, Borini have ensured that they have found the back of the net to at least maintain a scoring momentum heading into this encounter. Sunderland know that they will take on an exhausted Liverpool side who worked overtime to ensure they kept a clean sheet against Manchester City and win that game by 1-0 on New Year's Eve. Sunderland for their part have found the back of the net in 7 out of their last 10 games, which has given them some fighting chance as they have taken out victories against Bournemouth, Hull, Leicester and Watford in those 10 games. In front of their home fans, they have played 9 games and scored in 7 of them, the only 2 fixtures they weren't able to was against Chelsea and Everton.

Liverpool have the best offensive unit in the division with 46 goals in 19 games, and despite not scoring many against Manchester City, they kept up their winning record to come within 3 points of Chelsea who are sitting at the top of the table. The rested pair of Origi and Sturridge could come into this encounter leaving Sadio Mane and Firmino to come off the bench if required. The goals have shown from all over the pitch for Liverpool, and it should be no surprise if they don't score a couple of goals against this weakish Sunderland side.Liverpool have conceded goals in 13 out of 19 matches across the season; and that will be something that will be on their minds, especially since they play less than 48 hours after their tough encounter with Manchester City. Liverpool have conceded in 6 out of 9 away days so far, and the tiredness in the legs will be expected coming into this encounter. Klopp will also look to rotate some of his starters expecting an easy win at Sunderland, which could leave them vulnerable to conceding on the counter attack.

With Liverpool expected to rotate and concede goals, Sunderland will come into this game completely attacking know that they have a golden chance to put pressure on Liverpool and even sneak out a draw. I am expecting Over 2.5 Goals and Both teams to score in this encounter.
