Forli vs Venezia by Sors
Forli is in obvious upswing lately, as after just five points from the first thirteen rounds, the hosts won eleven points from their last six games in the league and will try to take third straight win after those against Reggaina on Dec. 11 (2-0/home) and Ancona last Sunday (1-0/home).
Forli’s defense managed to keep clean sheet in two consecutive games for the first time this season, while the attack also shows signs of awakening, as the hosts managed to scored ten goals in the last six games, compared to just nine goals in the preceding thirteen rounds.
However, there are some things that should be taken into account here: at first place, Forli is a newly promoted team with limited resources and even though the hosts made a lot of changes this summer, most of the new signings are young players, without enough experience even for this level. In addition to that, hosts had a relatively easy schedule in the last six rounds, as four of those six games were against opponents from the lower half of the standings, while now Forli will face one of the teams with the highest potential in the league.
Giuseppe Ponsat (f / 14+5), who scored three goals in his last five games, will serve the second game of a two match ban.
Unlike their opponents, the guests are among the main favorites for automatic promotion this season, which is far from surprising, given the fact that the club signed with many experienced players during the off-season (some of them with big experience in Serie B and even in Serie A) and with ambitious head coach in Filippo Inzaghi.
Venezia comes from a thrilling 3-3 draw at home against Maceratese last Sunday - one of the rare occasions in which this team failed to win against an opponent from the lower half of the standings.
However, the guests have recorded five victories in the previous six rounds (5-0-1 7/3) and will try to take their fifth consecutive win away from home following those against Sudtirol (4-0/Cup), FeralpiSalo (1-0), Fano (1-0) and AlbinoLeffe (1-0).
Simone Bentivoglio (m / 15+1) will serve the second game of a two match ban, while Paolo Pellicano (d / 5+0) and Ivano Baaldanzeddu (d / 9+1) are injured, but Filippo Inzaghi has enough qualitative players in the squad to replace them successfully.
I think that the guests will manage to win this match, but most probably by just one goal difference, given the good form of their opponents.
