Torino vs Genoa by PatrickBateman
Torino are 9th with 25 points. After a run of 13 competitive games with only one loss, they fell into slight crisis. They lost last three games, all of them pretty convincingly. 2:0 against Sampdoria, 3:1 at home against Juventus, and 5:3 against Napoli. In all of those games they never looked like they they have a chance to win. Even against Juventus, in a game in which they took the lead, they looked like the draw is the most they can take from the game. They ended up with nothing, and the game proved that they are not yet one of Serie A`s best. They have one of the best attacks in the league with 35 goals scored. But also, with 27 points, they have the worst defense of first 14 teams on the table.
Genoa are 12th with 23 points, two less than their hosts. They have been in mixed form this whole season, rarely connecting wins and losses. Last time out they lost at home against Palermo, in a crazy game which saw seven goals. They were 3:1 up until 69th minute when Goldaniga scored to make it 3:2. Even then it seemed like Genoa edged the game, but Palermo scored two in a space of two minutes to snatch all three points and make it 4:3. That was Genoa`s first home defeat of the season, and it surely left a mark on them. When looking at their away record, they have two wins, against Crotone and Bologna, with one draw against Chievo. Currently they are on a run of five straight away games without a win, scoring only two goals in process.
Torino are favourites for this game, as they have been really good this season at home. In fact, defeat to Juventus was their first home loss of the season. Also, when we look at the teams, Torino possesses more quality, especially in offense. Since they are on a three-game run without a win, their first negative run of the season, they will be eager to bounce back here. Genoa haven`t been good away from home lately, and their recent loss in the dying minutes of the game against one of the worst teams in the league will only add to their woes. Therefore I think that Torino will pull themselves together and leave for Christmas break with a three more points on the table.
