Sydney Thunder vs Sydney Sixers by Rahul

Andre Russell over the years has become the T20 champion in World Cricket. He is the ultimate gun for hire because of his improved fast bowling over the years credits a lot to his stint with Wasim Akram in his IPL franchise the Kolkata Knight Riders; but also due to his explosive batting with a T20 Strike Rate of 166 batting in 187 innings.

Just take a look at his championship CV, out of which 5 titles were just in 2016:

ICC World T20 Champions 2016

Pakistan Super League 2016

Caribbean Premier League 2016

Bangladesh Premier League 2016

Big Bash League 2015/16

Indian Premier League 2014

ICC World T20 Champions 2012

Russell is back today with his team that won the title from last season for the Sydney Thunder but without the experience of Jaques Kallis and Michael Hussey, who have since retired from the game along. The onus now falls on Russell as a champions and an experienced T20 player especially with the absence of captain Shane Watson out due to injury.

Russell bowling in T20 has seen improve dramatically and during his stint in last years Big Bash League in front of this home crowd at Spotless Stadium, there wasn't a single game where Russell did not take at least 2 wickets at all while also averaging 20 with the bat as well. Russell likes bowling on quick tracks, where his short length bowling often induces batsman into hooking balls and getting out; or if they want to play him in the depth overs, he is capable of getting them out on slower balls. Russell is also a live-wire in the field, often fielding at long on or long off, which gives him plenty of catches getting 6 catches in the 10 games played last year.

For all his facets of the game that he is involved with; this is a great bet to back Andre Russell to get over 42.5 performance points in this game.

Keep the BBL previews coming! I'm with you on this one. One slight doubt is that Russell has missed 3 drug tests so might have a possible ban in the back of his mind. On the flip side, this might inspire him to play better. Go Thunder!
