LA Kings vs Ottawa by MagicRat

After winning five straight games at the end of November the wheels have come off for LA slightly as they have just one win in four matches in December and they have lost their last two matches, although one of these came in a shootout against Montreal. Nevertheless, they don't come into this home game full of confidence since the last two defeats have been at home.

Another thing to consider is that they have been tampering with lines in training and at times during their last match, so they may not quite be able to perform in this game against Ottawa as they will be playing players with other players that they may not be as familiar with.

Ottawa, on the other hand, have lost just three of their last nine matches and they have won five of their last six away matches, including their last match against San Jose. This is the third game in a four game road trip for Ottawa and they have won one of them and they will confident after that victory and as they play a team that is slightly out of form, as well as a team that could be changing lineups.

Neither side have a good powerplay with LA scoring on just 13.6% of their powerplays with only two teams with a worse record than them. Ottawa are not much better but it is an area where they are better, scoring on 16.7% of powerplays. Not only are LA one of the worst teams on the powerplay they are coming up against an Ottawa side that has the fifth best penalty kill in the league at 85.2%.

Ottawa have the joint ninth highest points scorer in the league with Karlsson on 27 points with LA's best six points behind. Karlsson is in great form with eight of these points coming in their last three matches and he has scored in all three of those games. Stone and Hoffman are also in great form for Ottawa.

Ottawa have a good record against LA having won their only meeting this season thanks to a late winner to beat them 2-1 in Ottawa but they have won their last four matches against LA with two of these coming in games on the road.

Ottawa are in better form than LA and they have some players like Karlssom and Hoffman who are playing really well, so I think they have a really good chance in this game, therefore I think any odds over 3.50 for Ottawa to win in regulation offer very good value, so I would snap up odds of 3.94.
