Nimes vs Brest by Alcuni
Seems Nimes lost a bit from their aura of best team on the road in latest rounds. Lost last 2 away games against bottom teams 1-2 at Orleans and in last round 0-2 at Auxerre. But between these defeats they took their first home win - against top team Reims 3-0. Keeping in mind these last results we can conclude something happened in their approach. At Auxerre, the game was solved by some nice execution made by Courtet but overall was a balanced game with both teams having good moments in game. Now for Nimes another tough test when will be visited by Brest. Briancon is suspended.
Brest is clear in a mini-crisis. If in first 12 rounds they lost a single time, in last 5 games played they lost 3 times. But what is discouraging for them is they conceded 8 goals in these defeats keeping in mind in first 12 rounds conceded 11 times. In last round, they hosted actual leader Troyes and beat them 2-1. They opened the score after and own-goal preceded by a funny mistake with Troyes’ keeper as main actor. After being leveled with a bit of luck they took the winning goal in 2nd half, Maupay being once again providential (as he was against Strasbourg and Reims). I think a draw was equitable but aver all Brest was a bit better.
Will be able Nimes to link second win at home after they smashed Reims 3-0? I doubt it because Brest will not come here with a good morale after the win over the new leader. As individuals Nimes have some interesting players, but overall, as a group, Brest is more solid. Back Brest to continue with a win in championship. gl
