Severstal vs L. Yaroslavl by Sors
Cherepovets will try to avoid eleventh consecutive loss and sixth at home after those against Yugra (1-3), Barys Astana (3-4 OT), Yekaterinburg (1-4), CSKA Moscow (0-2) and SKA St. Petersburg (3-4).
It seems very difficult task actually, not only because Cherepovets will face one of the teams with the highest potential in the KHL, but mostly because the hosts have serious problems in this moment – in defense, as well as in attack.
The hosts are struggling in offense since early season, but at least the defense was on a relatively good level – something that has changed in the last four weeks, as Cherepovets conceded three or more goals in six of its last nine games.
In addition to that, Pavel Chernov (c / 10+8) will miss sixth consecutive game due to injury, as well as other key player in Vojtech Polak (lw / 5+8).
Lokomotiv Yaroslavl is in obvious upswing lately, as after some problems in late November the guests seek their fifth consecutive win after those against Ufa (2-1/away), Yurga (1-0/home), Yekaterinburg (5-3/home) and Barys Astana last Sunday (7-1/home).
In the matter of fact, the guests have been inconsistent on the road this season (7-2-2-7 43/37), although it should be noted that Lokomotiv Yaroslavl won five of its previous seven away games against opponents outside Top 8 in their conference.
Yegor Korshkov (rw / 6+12) and Denis Mosalev (lw / 6+3) are out due to injuries, but even without them Lokomotiv Yaroslavl is a team with considerable potential in attack in Brandon Kozun (rw / 13+21), Maxime Talbot (fw / 11+13), Petri Kontiola (c / 12+13), Andrei Loktionov (c / 7+9), etc.
Lokomotiv Yaroslavl excels Cherepovets in terms of individual qualities of the players, the guests are obviously in a much better form than their opponents and I think that they will manage to win that game in regulation time.
