John Isner - Andy Murray
First of all congratulations to Sir Andrew Barron Murray for his great accomplishment of becoming the 26th ATP World No1. What a quest this was, coming of half of Djokovic's number of points at the half of the year!
One could suspect some success hangover for today, for Murray. I don't think there is the case, as he's a complete professional which's success is more related to his commitment, to his work ethic than to his given talent. I'm loking for him to come today determined to hold the Paris trophy and to put 400 more ATP points in his bag in order to get closer to the Year no1 trophy too.
In fact this final is a copy of the one in Vienna, played only a week ago. There Murray dismissed Isner in a short 6:1, 6:3. That was the first ever short match in this matchup, as all the prevoius ones had at least one tie-break included. I think today we'll see a outcome closer to the general trend between these two than to the Vienna one, and that's due to 3 main factors:
- Murray wasn't very sharp on return against Berdych and I expect that becoming no1 to settle him down, not to make him come on the court firing up; even more he should feel some fatigue after all the amount of matches he's played lately;
- Isner had a ugly blister on his right hand at the Vienna match, which is not the case today;
- the Paris faster court suits Isner way more than the one they've played a week ago.
Let's go green!
