Las Palmas vs Eibar by PatrickBateman
Las Palmas has started season in a great fashion, with 4 wins out of 5 games. But since they`ve beaten Malaga in September, they are six games without a win. It has to be said though that they`ve lost only two games, at Sociedad and at Villareal, with a respectable draw against Real Madrid at home also worth mentioning. They are a team that plays very offensive football, and when you don`t have squad depth and world class players it can come to haunt you. And it did for them. They have some good players, most famous being Kevin Prince Boateng, midfielder with the experience of playing for Schalke, Milan, Tottenham, Portsmouth and Dortmund, as well on the biggest stage in the world representing Ghana. They also have in their squad Marko Livaja, Croatian bad boy who was labeled as a wonderkid when signing for Inter few years ago, but his lifestyle and personality threw him off tracks. However he is playing good football this season and most importantly he is playing responsibly, which wasn`t the case before. They are coming into the game after home draw against Celta in which they were down 3:0 at half time only to come back a salvage a draw.
Eibar is two points in front of their hosts, mostly thanks to their good home form which saw them lose only against Osasuna on a pitch that looked more like a pool and with two mistakes by their goalkeeper. Away from home they have managed to beat the worst team in the league - Granada and take a point against Espanyol and Real Madrid. They are a good team and should have no problems staying up this season and will probably finish in lower mid-table with a help of strong home performances, not leaning too much on the away points.
Both teams are scoring a lot and conceding a lot. Las Palmas` goal difference this season is 20:18 over 10 games, while Eibar`s is 16:14. It is visible that both teams are scoring and conceding well above 1 goal per game and I expect to see goals from both sides in this game too. I also expect Las Palmas to prevail in this game and break a run of 6 games without a win. These are two similar teams but I think that the home turf and offensive style of Las Palmas, backed with a last weeks` comeback against Celta will help them win this one.
I will go for a home win and both teams to score here as I like the odds of 3.75.
