Tottenham vs Leverkusen by Henrik Mikkeller
It's difficult to write a strong case supporting a team who have scored 2 goals in their last 4 games (both of them penalties) but were it not for Leverkusen's two late goals against Wolfsburg, the Germans would have an even poorer recent record. I actually backed Leverkusen in that match and so was relieved that they got the victory but they must consider themselves pretty lucky to have gained those 3 points so late on, despite dominating the second half their finishing was seriously poor and it looked like being a frustrating night for their backers.
Unfortunately for Spurs fans, Harry Kane will not feature in this Champions League encounter (although he is close to a comeback according to Coach Pocchetino) but the London side have enough to see off the threat from Leverkusen. Hugo Lloris was in immense form last time out and it was largely thanks to him that Spurs left Germany with a point. But a team with the quality of Dier, Alli, Eriksen, Lamela and Janssen/Son in attack should be able to score against an often comedically poor Leverkusen back-line.
It could be a nervy game to follow, but Spurs last two home matches have resulted in a win against Manchester City and a tie with EPL champion's Leicester - they will be roared on by a huge crowd at Wembley and can come through with a victory against a very unbalanced Leverkusen team (2-1/1-0 Spurs).
