Bahia vs Ceara CE by Sors

Bahia comes from a 1-1 draw in the visit to Oeste last Saturday, but the hosts are doing much better at Arena Fonte Nova, where they’ve won twelve of their previous sixteen games in this season (12-2-2 29/7), including each of the last six against Parana (3-0), Vasco da Gama (1-0), Goias (4-2), Criciuma (2-0), Tupi (4-0) and Brasil de Pelotas (1-0).

This match is of obvious importance for Bahia, given the fact that the gap between this team and Nautico (4th place) is four points, but Guto Ferreira’s side has one game in hand.

Luiz Antonio (m / 16+2), Gustavo Blanco (m / 6+0) and Misael (f / 5+0) are out for this home match against Ceara, but only Luiz Antonio is a regular starter.

In the matter of fact, Ceara also has some theoretical chances to finish the season at Top 4, but it’s unlikely to happen, considering the fact that the guests have recorded just two wins in the last ten rounds (2-4-4 7/9).

Sandro (d / 10+0), Antonio Carlos (d / 6+0), Baraka (m / 15+0) and Joao Marcos (m / 8+0) will miss the visit to Salvador due to injuries.

The hosts are clear favorites in that game, but there is one thing that should be taken into account here: the guests are playing pretty solid in defense during the second half of the season, conceding only nine goals in the last ten rounds and two or fewer goals in each of their previous eight away games in the league (0-4-4 7/12).

I think that Bahia will manage to win three points from this match, but the hosts might have some problems in attack against this opponent, at least during the first half.
