Manchester-Utd
VS
Manchester-City
Only five weeks have passed since these two Manchester rivals were head to head in the Premier League at Old Trafford. The hosts evolution at home is good, managing two consecutive wins, one draw and then another win in Europa League vs Fenerbahce. Talking about their last away games, the team have three losses, one draw and one win vs Northampton in EFL Cup. The draw was against their arch rivals from Liverpool on October 17th, where we saw 0-0 draw a tight duel.

This is going to be a tight game and a bit nervy with both out of form, so back a draw at full time at 3.5 odds.

City’s 2-1 win against United in their last meeting was a 7th win of the season in all competitions and with confidence flying high they ended up rolling on to ten consecutive wins before the brakes kicked in. In their last five matches, City have stumbled somewhat after losing to Spurs and Barcelona and being held by Celtic, Everton and Southampton. Despite this they remain top of the table, however some might think this could be a mini crisis after their spectacular start.

City’s current form isn’t great, since the team failed to win any of their last five games in all competitions, getting three draws and two losses. They scored five goals and conceded 11 in these matches, so Guardiola has to improve his defense without a doubt. Manchester City’s last game in the Champions League was against Barcelona and it was a disaster, since the team were smashed 0-4.

But it is Jose Mourinho that has a more worrying crisis on his hands. After being thrashed by Chelsea 4-0, after nine games last season Van Gaal had gathered 19 points to Mourinho’s 14! This might be a midweek League Cup clash however this is still a Manchester Derby and one both managers will want to win considering their recent results. Manchester United have won only two of their six previous League Cup meetings with Man City, although they are unbeaten in the three meetings at Old Trafford.

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has been ruled out of the EFL Cup clash with Manchester United after picking up a knock at the weekend.

Pablo Zabaleta is also ruled out after he got a cut that required stitches in the defeat to Barcelona but Vincent Kompany is expected to be in the squad after playing 78 minutes on Sunday.

Guardiola said he is “going to rotate” for this match because of a busy schedule with City playing 7 games in 3 weeks:

“Some of them will play, first because they deserve it and second because we played tough, tough games,” he told a news conference. “We play 35 minutes with 10 men against Barcelona and it was a tough game against Southampton.
