Halep vs Cibulkova by Khum

WTA Finals

Round Robin - Match 3

Simona Halep - Dominika Cibulkova

Both coming of losses in roud 2, Halep and Cibulkova have different statuses before this match. While Halep has many possibilities to qualify, Domi needs a straight sets win here combined with a straight sets win of Kerber. This means she will come storming in this match, trying to dominate it and make it short.

But this is exactly what the doctor orders for Simona Halep. A slovak attacking in full power will allow Halep to control the game from the baseline and to counterpunch the Cibulkova's firepower.

In the press conference after the match 2 Cibulkova seemed convinced that she's completely eliminated. After she found she still has some chances she said she'll give her best tomorrow but her approach on the subject seemed pretty flat emotionally.

Meanwhile, Halep looked very aware of which her mistakes were in the match against Kerber and also looked determined, focused to make a smart approach on the last match in the round robin.

I expect Halep to control the tomorrow encounter and to use Cibulkova's power againt herself, as the slovak puts lots of energy on court but she's lacking in strategic aproaches.

This is a pretty good matchup for Halep and I'm looking for the romanian to be more focused than yesterday and to repeat more or less the Madrid final's outcome (6-2, 6-4).

Let's go green!

Going for Cibulkova +1.5. On fast surfaces she's 3-0 against Halep (each time in two sets), and she will indeed be very motivated to take at least that first set.

This is the slowest hard court ever.
But that knee issue Simona has might become a big factor, if she cannot push in the left leg in orer to hit the serve and the forehand.
