Melbourne V. vs Melbourne City by Jimmys003
Melbourne Victory kicked off the new season with an away meeting with Brisbane roar and they'll be so very disappointed to walk away with just a point after a 1-1. After a stalemate 1st half which saw no shots on target, Victory came out the better side in the 2nd half and started producing the football people expected of them. 20 minutes after the break they received a massive boost, as Brisbane were bought down to 10 men, and 15 minutes later took advantage and went up 1-0. But with the last kick of the game, their hearts were broken, after failing to clear a set piece they were punished, and Brisbane equalised with the last kick of the game.
The highly anticipated and league favourites Melbourne City started the new season with a fairly dominant 1-0 away win against Wellington Phoenix. City produced a quality first 45 minutes and could have so easily of been up 3-4 nil at half time, with 12 shots, and 65% possession, they got their reward 31 minutes into the 1st half, and took the lead. But 10 minutes into the 2nd half, the game took a turn on its head as City keeper Sorensen was sent off and city went down to 10 men. But they held on a took a very gutsy 1-0 away win heading into the derby.
Prediction: Its a match every soccer fan in Australia will watch, and since the introduction of this derby in 2010 its produced an average of 3 goals a game, with the last 5 games, producing 18 goals. These two sides have no doubt, 2 of the best attacking squads this season, and I'm expecting goals.
Prediction: Over 2.5 goals / Both teams to score
