Brest vs Strasbourg by Alcuni
Brest – Strasbourg
After beating Reims 2-1 with and excellent finish (scoring twice in last 10 mins of the game) Brest travelled, as leader, in Corsica for a tough duel against AC Ajaccio. Was a nice game cause both teams put accent on offensive. Both had plenty of chances to score, both keepers being quite busy and quite inspired during the game. Brest conceded first, but thanks to a red card seen by Lippini, increased their pressure in the end of the game, scoring due to a corner kick with 10 mins to go. Even Ajaccio had more and dangerous chances to score I think the final score is fair. What is matter is Brest proved once again solid under Furlan command and see no reason to do otherwise in the coming rounds. Belaud is suspended while playmaker Gourgi remains injured
Sad Saturday for Strasbourg, when hosting Valenciennes, they clearly lost 2-4 after a nightmare development. With a single defeat since January 2015 (against Amiens in National, when already celebrate the promotion in Ligue 2) few were the ones who anticipated this outcome. But they were too nervous and made some foolish mistakes, being penalized with 2 red cards in first half. Was futile their perfect start of the game, when Boutaib scored for 1-0, cause Lienard and Saad saw direct red cards after some criminal faults and ruined this nice debut. With a deficit of one goal at HT, Valenciennes turning the score from 0-1 in 2-1, and playing with 2 men less, was impossible for Strasbourg to do something in second half, despite they scored at 1-3 from a penalty (easy awarded) giving some small hopes to their incredible fans. But Valenciennes scored 4th goal few minutes before the 90 mins putting an end to this nightmare. For sure Strasbourg will reborn and perhaps will not make these mistakes. Lienard and Saad are suspended for this game. They recovered 2 defenders Seka and Marester so should be stronger in that area.
Without first 2 captains Brest will struggle against an well organized team. After that accident I think Strasbourg is able to block offensive Brest and to snatch a draw. gl
