Lens vs Bourg-Peronnas by Sors

Lens is in the lower half of the standings in the French Ligue 2, which is kinda surprising, given the fact that the hosts were considered among the major favorites for promotion before the start of the new season.

In the matter of fact, several important players left the club this summer – Joris Delle (gk. / Nijmegen), Jean-Philippe Gbamin (def. / Mainz 05), Jordan Ikoko (def. / Guingamp), Wylan Cyprien (midf. / Nice), Pablo Chavarria (forw. / Reims) – but the new additions in Nicolas Douchez (gk. / from Paris SG), Mohamed Fofana (def. / from Reims), John Bostock (midf. / from Leuven), Djiman Koukou (midf. / from Niort), Abdellah Zoubir (midf. / from Petrolul), Teddy Chevalier (forw. / from Rizespor) and Cristian Lopez (forw. / from CFR Cluj) own enough quality and experience to replace them successfully.

The hosts are still looking for their first home win in the league and this match against Bourg Peronnas looks like a really good opportunity for Lens to take all three points at Stade Bollaert-Delelis for the first time this season.

Bourg Peronnas is a modest team, whose main aim (as during the previous campaign) is to keep its place in the league for the next season.

The guests have won just two points from the previous five rounds (0-2-3 5/10) and lost twice away from home against Reims (0-1) and Ajaccio (1-3).It’s not a surprise actually, given the fact that six key players left the club during the break – Baba Traore (def. / Auxerre), Mickael Alphonse (def. / Sochaux), Florent Ogier (def. / Sochaux), Rafik Boujedra (midf. / Gazelec Ajaccio), Alliou Dembele (midf. / Niort) and top scorer from the last season Pape Sane (forw. / Caen), while the majority of the new signings are young players or/and without experience on this level.

In addition to that, Herve Della Maggiore has serious problems with injured players in Ange Digbeu (d / 5+0), Patrice Dimitriou (m / 0+0), Sebastien Chere (m / 0+0), Wilfred Louisy-Daniel (f / 0+0), Julien Begue (f / 3+1) and Lakdar Boussaha (f / 3+0).

Mohamed Fofana (d / 1+0) and Akim Zedadka (d / 2+0) are out for Lens, but Cristian Lopez is expected to make his debut today.

I think that the home team will manage to win this match.
