Amiens had an incredible start of the season. With 10 points they are on 2nd spot. They are coming after 3 consecutive wins, 2 of t hose coming on the road. Together with Strasbourg (another new comer) Amiens was the pleasant surprise of this start of the season. Will stay Amiens the pleasant surprise till the end of the season, as other National new promoted teams, were in previous 2-3 season? Keeping their solid game and remaining a hard working and well organized squad everything is possible. Despite being twice in deficit (1-2 at HT with Alioui scoring a masterpiece for Nimes just before the final whistle of first half) Amiens scored 2 times after the break and took an impressive win away at Nimes (otherwise a good team on their own pitch); Along these goals Amiens missed another good chances so the score could have been more drastic. Two names to keep eyes on: Soumah and Tinhan. They signed with striker Manzala (ex LeHavre) – an interesting player who will bring some plus to Amiens’ offensive compartment – still he will miss for few rounds being recovering after a surgery.
Tours proved to be a bit inconsistent in this start of the season, but somehow they seem to found their joy of play under new coach. Hosting relegated Reims, they took a creditable draw 1-1. A game dominated by Tours till 70th minute; Being in led 1-0 thanks to “old fox” Bergougnoux goal, Tours continued to pres searching for second goal. But despite good situations they’ve created was Reims the team who scored after aprox 75 minutes of play. Sad for them, the goal was scored by an ex-Tours player Bouhours who left the team before the start of the season. Suddenly Tours seems to accuse the shock of conceded goal and till the end we saw on the pitch a single team Reims. Was a bit disappointing for Tours this results but also they could have lost the game after Reims missed couple of huge opportunities in the end of the game. They signed in the latest days of transfers with 4 players: Ribelin (Rennes) Clemence (Creteil), Kacon (Evian) and young offensive player Pereira de Sa (formed by PSG - but he played at Paris FC in previous season). In these conditions I think we will see a stronger Tours, but it’s a bit earlier. No important injuries.
OK Amines had a good start but I have a feeling this will come to an end soon. On the other side Tours is a good team in Ligue 2 and with the new signings will be better. Being now all connected to the new coach ideas I see Tours having a slight advantage here and I back them to take all points covering with AH0+. gl
