Sharjah vs Emirates Club by Alexis1016
Despite losing "Indonesian" striker Wanderley, I think Al Sharjah will have a better season than the last one because they have recruited well this summer. True, both Digao (own goal) and Adrian Mierzejewski (missed penalty) had a nightmare start for Al Sharjah, but both are good additions along with Venezuela striker Gelmin Rivas. The former Ittihad top scorer was only fit for the bench vs. Al Wasl, but now he joined the full training and should be fit enough to start. All these players are coming from important Saudi clubs because the former Al Hilal coach Donis was named the Sharjah manager this summer. I think the Greek is a good coach or at least flexible. He wanted to use his favorite formation with 3 at the back as he did at Al Hilal, but he started with 4 defenders against Al Wasl because Al Sharjah haven't the players to play with 3 defenders. A good decision from him despite the result. Al Sharjah were the better side against Al Wasl and deserved at least a point. Adrian missed a penalty in the first half, then in the second half he created almost a goal, but one of his team mates hit the post. Overall, a encouraging performance from Al Sharjah who should be a tough nut to crack this season. They haven't signed yet the 4th foreign, they should make this soon. Sharjah have lost only a local playe, the full-back Bader Abdulrahman, but they signed decent local striker Jamal Ibrahim from Al Nasr. He played for Emirates in the second part of the last season on loan from Al Nasr.
On the other hand we have Emirates Club. They will play their first competitive game of the season tomorrow. They have recruited decently in term of foreign players by signing Zac Anderson, Hocine Ragued, Augusto and especially the former Al Wakrah top scorer Sebastian "Sasha" Saez. However, their local core of players is not great at all after losing a lot of important players from the last season like Mahmoud Hassan, Mohammad Malallah, Helal Saeed or Waled Amber and the list can continue. Emirates have signed some local players, but not important names. They have almost a completely different team from the last season after changing so many players including their foreign players. Maybe they will be good during the season, but the start should be pretty difficult for them because I think they need time to gel.
