Medvescak vs Sochi by Sors
Medvescak Zagreb opens a three-game home stand against Sochi on Monday, as the hosts will be looking for their third win in three games at the start of the new season after those against Lada on Aug. 23 (3-2/away) and Bars three days later (3-1/away).
A lot of changes have been made in Zagreb during the off-season and now this team has a completely new look compared to the last campaign.
Medvescak’s offense looks really impressive with the newcomers Cobly Genoway (center), Brandon McMillan (left wing), Alexandre Giroux (left wing), Samson Mahbod (right wing), Bobby Butler (right wing) and the top scorer from the last season Tomas Mertl (center) and is definitely the strongest part of this team.
The guests were focused mainly on their defense during the off-season, which is not a surprise actually, given the fact that Sochi finished the last campaign as the team with the fourth-best attack in the KHL (176 goals).
Igor Ignatushkin (c / 12+20 last term), Ben Maxwell (c / 14+18), Andre Petersson (rw / 22+22), Ilya Krikunov (lw / 13+23), Andrei Kostitsyn (lw / 20+21) and Evgeny Skachkov (lw / 14+16) are still in this team, contributing six goals (Petersson – 3, Krikunov – 2, Ignatushkin – 1) and six assists (Petersson – 2, Kostitsyn – 2, Krikunov – 1, Maxwell - 1) for those two victories against D. Riga (3-1/home) and Jokerit (3-2/home) in the first two rounds of the season.
I expect more than five goals in that game between the teams of Medvescak Zagreb and Sochi.
