Levski Sofia vs Vereya by GlacialSpirit

The 5th round of the Bulgarian First league sees runner ups Levski Sofia taking at home Vereya Stara Zagora. Levski will be looking to leapfrog Cherno More after they lost yesterday and get into the runner up position again.

Levski started the domestic season badly with 2 draws but then went on to improve to win over champions Ludogorets and then thrash Slavia in the oldest Sofia derby with 4-0. Levski picked up pace last few game and head Coach Lyupko Petrovic will be looking to carry the momentum on. Intersting to note is that the huge improvement of their game came after hot prospect Bozhidar Kraev got back into play after suffering from injury. The young inside forward looks lively playing with creativity and pace. He unsured Levski’s win over Ludogorets with a dramatic stoppage time tap in and also rounded up the score last round against Slavia. Striker Tunde Adeniji also looks to starting to find his form and Levski looks sharp in terms of attack with Kraev, Aniete and Narh in attacking roles and Adeniji leading the line. Behind them there are two tireless midfielders like Kostadinov and Geremy. Only the defence looks a bit shaky despite having a very good and determined goalkeeper like Bojan Jorgachevic.

Vereya so far picked up 7 points and are staying just one place behing their current opponents. Last round they won 1-0 against Botev Plovdiv forcing Botev’s head coach and sporting director to resign from their jobs. Aleksandar Tomash had to improvise a bit with his squad so far as the transfers and selection came rather late for Vereya. They started to look like a team and maybe its all because of the young and ambitious Tomash. They look very solid defensively conceding only one goal so far and thaths the main reason bahing their success so far. They play deep relying on swift counters to hit the opposition.

Levski will have hard time breaking through Vereya defense unlike last game against Slavia. The bookies offered very good value for under 2.5 goals as they see Levski’s scoring form. But keeping in mind that their opposition will play trying to avoid defeat Levski will have troubles to score. Still I believe Levski will win this game but with odds so low for that I’ll go for the higher under 2.5 goals.
