Beroe vs Pirin Blagoevgrad by GlacialSpirit
The 5th round of the Bulgarian First league features the game between Beroe Stara Zagora and Pirin Blagoevgrad. Beroe is one of the teams which plays on its own stadium so the home advantage will have an impact.
Beroe so far sits in somewhat disappointing 7th place winning 6 out of 12 possible points. Last round Beroe were shocked by Neftochimic and surprisingly lost the game with a score of 1-0. Beroe played fairly well throughout the game but was failing either the last pass or was wasting the scoring chance. Neftochimic took advantage of this and won their first 3 points this season after Emanuil Manev’s strike in the 59th minute. Aleksandar Dimitrov will probably make a few changes from last game in order to avoid another mistake. Winger Pochanski may be dropped from the first team and midfielder Tom is expected to feature after playing as a sub the last round.
Pirin so far won 4 points and sits in 9th position. Last game the team managed to raise some eyebrows after Stefan Genov’s boys managed to get a point at home against superior PFC CSKA-Sofia team. The visitors opened up the score after 54 minutes of play through Arsenio but failed to gain a momentum and 8 minutes later midfielder Dimitar Blagov equalized for the final score of 1-1. Vladislav Zlatinov is expected to be back in the starting lineup leading the line with his striker partner Stanislav Kostov. Despite this impressive result Pirin so far fails to make an impact in the league. The team’s main problem are the lack of creativity in midfield and some unforced errors at the back.
Most of the games between these two teams ended up as a draw. 6 out of 12 games were draws with 4 wins for Beroe and 2 for Pirin. Beroe won 3 out of their last 4 games while 5 out of their last 6 were with under 2.5 goals. I believe Beroe possesses more than enough quality to get the 3 points here. Pirin just doesn’t look like a team who can manage anything away from home. My pick here is for Beroe to win the game.
