Minnesota vs Detroit by Sors

Jose Berrios (2-3 with a 9.28 ERA) takes the mound for the Minnesota Twins, who look to avoid a second straight sweep in their three-game series against the visiting Detroit Tigers.

Minnesota won six of eight at the beginning of the month, but lost eleven of its next fourteen games, including each of the last 6.The Twins were limited to three runs or fewer in four of those six outings, with a .188 batting average, 14 runs and 5 HR during this stretch.

Berrios is not doing well in his debut season, as the 22-year-old rookie has allowed four or more earned runs in five of his previous eight major league starts and is 1-2 with an 8.47 ERA in four starts since being recalled from Triple-A Rochester at the beginning of the month.

His worst start of the season was against the Tigers, on May 16, when he was hammered for 7 runs in 2/3 innings of an 8-10 loss at Comerica Park.Berrios gave up 8 hits and 6 runs (five earned) over two innings in his last home start, a 7-15 loss to Houston on Aug. 11.

The Detroit Tigers won three in a row for the first time this month, totaling 27 runs and 38 hits in those three outings.

Daniel Norris (1-2 with a 3.81 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Tigers in Thursday’s series finale.

The 23-year-old southpaw has allowed three or fewer runs in each of his previous six starts this year, though he hasn’t made it out of the sixth inning in any of those six outings.

Norris lasted only 3 2/3 innings in his lone start against the Twins, in which he yielded a solo home run to Eddie Rosario and struck out four of a 7-4 win at Target Field on Sept. 16, 2015.The left-hander is 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA in eleven road contests dating back to April, 2015.

I think that the Detroit Tigers will complete a three-game sweep of the Twins.
