Arizona vs Atlanta by Sors

Archie Bradley (4-8 with a 5.04 ERA) takes the mound Tuesday night as the Diamondbacks seek their fifth win in five games against the Braves in 2016.

It won’t be an easy task actually, given the fact that the 24-year-old pitcher is not doing well in August, as he’s allowed four or more earned runs in three of his last four starts, including 7 hits and 5 runs (four earned) with three walks in 4 2/3 innings of an 8-9 loss at PETCO Park last Thursday.

Bradley went 1-4 with a 6.25 ERA in eight home starts this year and what is also important to be noted: the right-hander hasn’t made it out of the sixth inning in each of his last four starts.

In addition to that, he was tagged for 5 runs over five innings in his lone start versus Atlanta, a 1-5 loss at Chase Field on June 1, 2015.

The Braves have lost eight of their last ten games, including Monday’s series opener (8-9), but totaled 30 runs and 44 hits in the last four.

Freddie Freeman his safely in eleven consecutive games, Matt Kemp – in nine of his last ten, Ender Inciarte went 6-for-13, with two doubles, triple, a homer and 4 RBI over his last three games, Jace Peterson has 4 hits in his last 9 at-bats, with a double and a solo home run, while Nick Markakis went 4-for-10, with two doubles and 3 RBI over his past two games.

Rob Whalen (1-2 with a 5.73 ERA) will start for the Braves in the second game of the series.

The 22-year-old rookie is coming off his best start of the season, as he yielded 3 hits and 3 runs (one earned) despite walking three over six innings of a 2-8 home loss to the Nationals last Thursday.

Whalen, however, gave up four or more earned runs in two of his previous three MLB starts and is 0-1 with a 7.36 ERA in two road contests in this period. He was hammered for 6 runs over five innings in the last of them, a 6-7 loss at Nationals Park on Aug. 13.The right-hander has never faced the Diamondbacks or any of their hitters before.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have scored four or more runs in six of their last eight games, with a .310 batting average, 52 runs and 9 HR during this stretch.

I expect more than nine runs in the second game of this series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves.
