Time for the Bulgarian First League round 4. This time “Hristo Botev” stadium hosts the game between Pirin Blagoevgrad and PFC CSKA-Sofia.
The hosts sit in 10th place with 3 points. Last game they conceded a disappointing loss to the pleasant surprise this season Dunav Ruse. They lost 0-1 after a goal in the middle of the first half. Head coach Stefan Genov has no right to be happy with his team’s performance. Even the 3 points they got over Lokomotiv Gorna Oryahovitsa were not convincing at all. The team plays without any recognizable style of play. They neither look defensively stable nor attack well. So far their goals came by penalties and lucky ricochets. They lack creativity in midfield and rely mainly on Vladislav Zlatinov leading their line to try and score a goal out of nowhere. They make silly mistakes when in possession gifting the ball to their opponents. Unless Stefan Genov improves their game a lot I see them so far as main relegation candidates.
PFC CSKA-Sofia bounced back with a win last round trashing Neftochimic Burgas with a score of 5-1 after the huge disappointment against Vereya Stara Zagora. Striker Preslav Yordanov finally managed to get into the score sheet after goal in the 2nd minute of the game. The media is still speculating whether the management team is looking for a replacement of his. He was out of form so far not only in the League but in the pre-season. Still considering he played last game and that the visitors don’t really have other viable option he is expected to lead the line again. The main threat for Pirin defensive line comes from winger Diogo Viana. So far he has scored 4 goals in 3 games having huge impact on both of PFC CSKA-Sofia wins.
I won’t bother with the last games between those teams as PFC CSKA-Sofia is not the same it was a few seasons ago after the liquidation of the original team and the renaming of Litex Lovech to mimic the old club. So this leaves us only to rely on their form and quality. PFC CSKA-Sofia has plenty of quality and better form. Head coach Hristo Yanev will be looking to carry out the momentum from last game and get the 3 points. My pick for this game is PFC CSKA-Sofia -1 AH.
