Man. United vs Southampton by Rahul

Manchester United are reinvigorated by the signing of new manager Jose Mourinho, as well as new players like Ibrahimovic, Mkhitariyan and Bailly who slot in straight away in the starting XI of Manchester United. Last weekend all 3 made their debut but non more influential to the team than the record signing from last year Anthony Martial who started on the wing and provided 2 assists to Rooney and Zlatan who were clinical in their finishing for both those goals. The fans and the team are looking to how World Record Signing Paul Pogba will be able to gel with this team despite not playing during pre-season. Pogba will be playing in a slightly deeper role along with Carrick and the way he dictates the play will be interesting as that itself could stop the Saints attack from taking on the United back 4. Chris Smalling could make his return after being suspended for last weekend at the expense of Daley Blind. United showed us last week how good they could be on counter-attacking football, and with the home crowd at Old Trafford to back them, I won't be surprised if they smash a couple tonight.

Southampton were theoretically upset last weekend by being held to a 1-1 draw despite playing at home and even playing for a period of time against 10 men. The form of Southampton is good despite losing Pelle and Mane, and that result saw them undefeated in 7 Premier League games in a row dating backing to April. Shane Long and Charlie Austin were relatively ineffective, but Nathan Redmond started off the new season in good form while Dusan Tadic was creating a hatful of chances, but none to be put away. The Saints defence have been poor dating back to last season where they have conceded in 13 Premier League games in on the trot.

Southampton players who have been here a while should be confident of grabbing a goal with two 1-0 victories in a row at Old Trafford, but generally there have been goals in meetings with the 2 sides, with a minimum of 2 goals in 12 out of the last 14 matches between the 2 sides. With the strong offensive unit of Manchester United while Saints looking to pick up an exciting first win, we can expect goals and I am backing Over on the Asian Handicap market.
